The barcode reader SDK is licensed per user, developer and server - with deals available for unlimited site and distribution licenses. The site and distribution licenses allow for unlimited use fo the barcode reader toolkit in return for a one-off payment.
User/Developer License
These license are available in packs of 1, 4 and 8. They can be split between Developers and Users in any way and can be shared between the customers of a Developer.
A User is a person who operates an application that uses the barcode toolkit to read barcodes. A Developer is a person who creates an application that uses the barcode toolkit to read barcodes.
Server License
A Server license is required for any process that uses the barcode toolkit to read barcodes, but is not operated by a User. This includes processes that read barcodes from images on fax servers and web servers.
Distribution License
A Distribution License allows a Developer to distribute the barcode toolkit with their application and pay no further User license fees.
Site License
A site license allows unlimited User and Developer licenses at a single physical location.
Examples
1. A software company has 3 developers and needs run-time licenses for 4 users.
License required: 8 User/Developer License
2. A software company has 1 developer and needs to deploy a license on a fax server.
Licenses required: 1 User/Developer + 1 Server License
3. A software company wish to add barcode recognition to their applications. They have a team of 4 developers who will need to work with the toolkit and would like to to distribute run-time licenses without paying any further fees.
Licenses required: 4 User/Developer License + Unlimited Distribution License
4. A company wishes to develop and deploy the barcode toolkit within their own organization. They are based at a single location and will require a large number of run-time licenses.
License required: Unlimited User/Developer License on single site.
5. Sames a 2 above, but the company needs to deploy their application at a number of locations within the organization. The development team of 8 people is based at one location.
License required: 8 User/Developer License + Unlimited Distribution License.
