The key change is to run &#8220;MMC comexp.msc \/32&#8221; on a 64-bit system rather than dcomcnfg.exe<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, here is the new page&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This section describes a problem that can be seen on ASP applications that handle PDF documents on x64 systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Symptom:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ScanBarCode returns -1 and GetLastError returns 3001.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CoCreateInstance is failing and is probably returning E_ACCESSDENIED. This is because IIS_IUSRS does not have permission for Local Launch or Local Activation of either the PDF2Image or PDF2TIFCom COM servers which are used by the SDK to convert PDF documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Grant access for the IIS_IUSRS user to launch and activate the above COM servers:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div title=\"Page 27\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Run (as Administrator from the command prompt):<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>dcomcnfg.exe<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;on a 32-bit system Or<\/p>\n<p>MMC comexp.msc \/32<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;on a 64-bit system<\/p>\n<p>From Console Root, expand Component Services\/Computers\/My Computer\/DCOM Config Scroll down to locate PDF2Image.CPDF2Image, right click on the item and select Properties. Click on the Security tab<br \/>\nIn Launch and Activate Permissions select Customize and click on Edit.<\/p>\n<p>If IIS_IUSRS is not in the list then click on Add and enter IIS_IUSRS before clicking on OK. Grant IIS_IUSRS permission for Local Launch and Local Activation.<\/p>\n<p>Click on OK to exit from Launch and Activate Permissions and then click on OK to exit from Properties.<\/p>\n<p>Repeat for PDF2TIFCom.CPDF2TIFCom<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve updated the manual page that covers the configuration of DCOM on a 64-bit Windows 2012 Server.
