How to fool ANPR systems

Here’s an interesting article on how it’s possible to fool technology designed to keep an eye on us all. In this case it’s number plate recognition but similar problems can occur with barcode recognition – random artefacts in an image can resemble the patterns created by barcodes. Fortunately it’s easier to distinguish the false positive barcodes than it would seem to be with number plates.
