Installing the Softek Barcode Reader Toolkit on Ubuntu 12.10

If you try to install the Softek Barcode Reader Toolkit on a default installation of Ubuntu 12.10 then you may see the following message when you run ./configure.sh:

Sorry – no build of bardecoder will work on this version of linux
Please contact support@bardecode.com for further advice

This is because Ubuntu 12.10 uses libtiff5 rather than libtiff4 as supplied with Ubuntu 12.04.

The solution is to install libtiff4 from the Ubuntu Software Centre and then re-run ./configure.sh again.
